CAPSES, memòria viva

Toni Catany was a good reader of the world, always in search of beauty. On 6 May 2006, Toni Catany lived a key moment in his life that he called "Cameras burial". It is the day he withdraws all his analogue cameras and, one by one, places them inside boxes so that the space they occupy can be replaced by digital cameras. These cameras were his travelling or studio companions and, at this very moment, Toni had the sad feeling of shrouding them.

"CAPSES, memòria viva" offers visitors to the CIF the chance to literally enter this world of dark matter, the boxes, to bring the cameras back to life, while enjoying Toni Catany's work. The desire just wanted to stop; we projected Toni Catany's desire to keep his work alive with the creation of a new space for the International Centre of Photography in Llucmajor.
